Candles

If you’re looking to create a romantic ambiance, candles are always a good choice. From tall tapers to short tea lights, there are plenty of options to choose from. Candle holders come in all shapes and sizes, so you can mix and match to create a unique look. If you’re worried about open flames around fabric tablecloths, consider battery-operated candles. They’ll give you the same warm glow without the risk of fire.

Flowers

Fresh flowers are a classic choice for table decor. They add color and life to any space. If you’re working with a tight budget, opt for in-season blooms. For something extra special, try using family heirlooms or flowers from your own garden. Greenery is another great option if you want to add some foliage to your tablescape without breaking the bank. Baby’s breath, eucalyptus leaves, and ivy are all inexpensive choices that will make a big impact. You can even opt to include aspects of your venue, such as halves of an orange scattered on your table if your venue has orange groves nearby.

Centerpieces

When it comes to wedding or event table decor, centerpieces are key. They’re often the focal point of the entire tablescape. If you’re DIY-ing your centerpieces, be sure to start early so you have plenty of time to put them together. And if you’re working with fresh flowers, make sure to get them delivered the day of your event so they’re at their best. If you’re looking for something non-floral, lanterns, Mason jars filled with sand and shells, and even large balloons can make great centerpieces. Get creative and have fun with it!

Place Settings

Your place settings are another important part of your table decor. In addition to utensils, most place settings include a dinner plate, salad plate, bread plate, and drinking glass. You can find place settings in just about any material these days, from china and porcelain to glass and metal. And don’t forget about color! Adding a pop of color with your place settings is an easy way to brighten up any tablescape. For a more formal look, consider using charger plates beneath your dinnerware. Charger plates come in numerous colors and materials and can really elevate your place settings.

Table Linens

Table linens are often overlooked when it comes to table decorating—but they shouldn’t be! Tablecloths or runners can instantly transform a boring tabletop into something special. When choosing linens, keep the overall theme of your event in mind as well as the colors you’ve chosen for your tablescape. Textured fabrics like linen or burlap add visual interest and can be dressed up or down depending on the formality of your event.
